Pennsylvania Couples Intensives

Private Couples Therapy Intensives in Pennsylvania

Chad Stiles, PhD, LMFT offers private couples therapy intensives to eligible couples in Pennsylvania. Virtual formats and individually arranged private in-person treatment provide different ways to protect time for relationship work.

An intensive brings the conversation into a sustained clinical setting. There is room to examine how a conflict develops, what each partner is protecting, and why attempts to reconnect may keep missing one another. Choosing this format begins with clinical fit, rather than the assumption that more time is always the answer.

Protected Clinical Time

Concentrated time for interconnected concerns.

A relationship concern rarely stays neatly inside one topic. A conversation about trust can become a disagreement about communication; a request for connection can lead to defensiveness or withdrawal. Concentrated psychotherapy makes room to explore those connections without treating every argument as a separate problem.

More time for the pattern, not just the argument. Chad’s relational and systemic approach considers the recurring interaction and both partners’ experiences. Understanding a protective response does not mean choosing sides or dismissing the effect it has on the other partner.

Weekly therapy and intensive therapy serve different needs. An intensive may offer useful continuity, while ongoing weekly work may be more appropriate for other needs. Clinical judgment, safety, and your ability to participate guide that discussion.

Virtual Care

Virtual Couples Intensives in Pennsylvania

Virtual intensives may be available for eligible clients physically located in Pennsylvania at the time of service. Each partner’s actual treatment location and applicable licensure requirements must be confirmed. Pennsylvania residency alone does not establish eligibility if someone will be elsewhere during the intensive.

One-Day Virtual Couples Intensive

$2,000

A defined relationship pattern, a recurring conversation, or a focused goal may be appropriate for a one-day format. The scope of the work is considered carefully so that one day has a clear clinical focus.

Two-Day Virtual Couples Intensive

$3,500

Layered, longstanding, or interconnected concerns may benefit from allowing more time for pacing, regulation, practice, and integration when clinically appropriate. Two days is a different allocation of time, not an inherently superior treatment.

Individually Arranged Care

Private In-Person Couples Intensives in Pennsylvania

Two-Day Private In-Person Couples Intensive

$6,000

Private in-person treatment may be arranged within Pennsylvania. The specific setting is confirmed individually based on clinical appropriateness, privacy, availability, and scheduling. This does not represent a permanent Pennsylvania office or a network of local facilities.

The $6,000 clinical fee covers the intensive. Therapist travel and location expenses may apply depending on the arrangement. Any additional therapist expenses are discussed and agreed upon before scheduling, so the clinical fee is not mistaken for an all-inclusive total.

You arrange and pay for your own lodging, transportation, airfare or driving costs, meals, recreation, hospitality, and other personal travel expenses. Chad coordinates the treatment-setting discussion, not your personal travel bookings.

The setting supports the work; it is not the treatment. Confirming an appropriate private treatment space and dates comes before making nonrefundable travel plans.

The Clinical Process

How the work develops

  1. Begin by clarifying concerns and the goals you each bring.
  2. Identify the repeated interaction cycle connecting those concerns.
  3. Explore emotional triggers and protective responses, including what sits beneath escalation or withdrawal.
  4. Slow the interaction down to examine moments that normally pass too quickly.
  5. Practise different responses and ways of communicating beneath the conflict.
  6. Integrate the session work and identify next steps appropriate to your needs.

The process responds to what emerges. Exact pacing varies with clinical needs, safety, and regulation; the work is not a timetable that every couple must complete in the same way. Integration includes considering how the work fits into care beyond the intensive.

When an Intensive May Help

Concerns that may be brought to the consultation

Couples may seek help with recurring arguments, pursue/withdraw patterns, communication breakdowns, or emotional disconnection. You might understand the pattern after an argument but find that understanding difficult to access while the conflict is happening.

Trust ruptures or betrayal, trauma-related relationship patterns, and multiple interconnected concerns can also be considered during the fit process. Scheduling circumstances that make weekly therapy difficult may influence your interest in concentrated work. None of these concerns, on its own, establishes suitability or guarantees improvement.

How intensives help with relationship patterns

Clinical Fit

Safety comes before scheduling.

The fit process addresses whether both partners can participate safely and speak freely. Active or recent interpersonal violence, coercive control, intimidation or threats, severe instability, and untreated substance-use concerns that interfere with safe participation are not appropriate for this format. A consultation is an assessment of fit, not a guarantee of acceptance.

Privacy and Discretion

Private to your couple, with professional boundaries.

The clinical intensive is reserved for your couple, without groups or shared programming. Discretion may matter particularly for people with demanding professional, leadership, community, or public-facing roles; those roles are not a requirement for care. Any clinically appropriate couple is welcome to explore the service. Psychotherapy confidentiality has standard legal and ethical limits.

Do not send protected health information or sensitive clinical details through standard email or scheduling notes. Discuss privacy questions during the fit consultation.

In-Person Planning

Separate the treatment decision from travel commitments

  1. Discuss clinical fit, goals, physical locations, and format during a free 15-minute consultation.
  2. For in-person care, identify the Pennsylvania general location and discuss an appropriate private treatment setting.
  3. Confirm the treatment setting and dates, with any therapist travel and location expenses discussed and agreed upon before scheduling.
  4. After those details are confirmed, arrange and pay for your own lodging and personal travel.

Couples should not make nonrefundable travel arrangements until the treatment location and dates have been confirmed.

Questions Before Beginning

Planning care in Pennsylvania

What if we already have a couples therapist?

An intensive can be a time-limited episode of care. With appropriate client authorization, coordination with an established provider may occur. It does not necessarily mean transferring ongoing care, and future treatment needs are considered individually.

Does living in Pennsylvania qualify both of us for virtual treatment?

Not by itself. Each client’s physical location at the time of treatment, applicable licensure requirements, and clinical fit must be confirmed. Tell Chad if either partner expects to travel.

How do we compare the total costs?

The clinical fees are $2,000 for one-day virtual, $3,500 for two-day virtual, and $6,000 for two-day private in-person. For in-person work, therapist travel and location expenses may apply separately by agreement. Your personal travel expenses are also separate.
