West Virginia Couples Intensives

Private Couples Therapy Intensives in West Virginia

Chad Stiles, PhD, LMFT provides private couples therapy intensives for eligible couples in West Virginia. Options include virtual care and private in-person treatment arranged individually within the state.

If you keep returning to the same point of conflict, the next useful step may be to examine how the conversation unfolds. An intensive protects clinical time to notice the triggers, emotions, and protective responses that can be difficult to untangle in the middle of an argument.

Protected Clinical Time

Room to slow down, with attention to what comes next.

More time for the pattern, not just the argument. Concentrated couples psychotherapy allows you to look at the repeated sequence between you and practice responses while receiving clinical support. Chad’s relational and systemic approach focuses on the interaction rather than taking sides.

The work includes regulation, pacing, and integration. It is not simply a longer conversation about everything that has gone wrong. Attention is given to what each person experiences beneath conflict and how different responses might become possible.

Weekly therapy and intensive therapy serve different needs. Difficulty scheduling weekly care can be one reason to consider concentrated time. The decision still depends on clinical appropriateness, safety, and the concerns you bring, rather than a promise that intensity produces a better result.

About Chad and his clinical approach

Virtual Care

Virtual Couples Intensives in West Virginia

Virtual intensives may be available to eligible clients physically located in West Virginia at the time of service. Chad must confirm applicable licensure requirements and the actual location of each partner during treatment. Home-state residency alone is not sufficient if a client plans to participate from elsewhere.

One-Day Virtual Couples Intensive

$2,000

One day may be appropriate for a relatively defined pattern, repeated conversation, or focused relationship goal. The aim is to give a clear concern sustained attention at a pace that remains clinically appropriate.

Two-Day Virtual Couples Intensive

$3,500

Two days may allow additional room for longstanding, layered, or interconnected concerns, including regulation, practice, and integration. The scope of the work determines whether that time is appropriate; it is not automatically the stronger choice.

Individually Arranged Care

Private In-Person Couples Intensives in West Virginia

Two-Day Private In-Person Couples Intensive

$6,000

Private in-person work may be arranged within West Virginia. A specific private treatment setting is selected individually and confirmed before travel arrangements are made. Clinical appropriateness, privacy, availability, and scheduling guide the choice; this service does not imply a network of permanent offices.

The clinical intensive fee is $6,000. Therapist travel and location expenses may apply depending on the setting, and any additional therapist expenses are discussed and agreed upon before scheduling.

Couples arrange and pay for their own lodging, transportation, airfare or driving costs, meals, recreation, hospitality, and other personal travel expenses. These remain separate from the clinical fee. Chad does not arrange the couple’s personal travel.

The setting supports the work; it is not the treatment. A location is confirmed for the clinical work, rather than offered as a hospitality package.

When an Intensive May Help

Considering concentrated help for a repeating cycle

An intensive may be worth discussing when recurring arguments, pursue/withdraw patterns, communication breakdowns, or emotional disconnection keep pulling you into familiar roles. Knowing what happens afterward can feel very different from being able to change it while it happens.

Trust ruptures or betrayal, trauma-related relationship patterns, and multiple interconnected concerns can be part of the fit conversation. Neither the seriousness of a concern nor a preference for a concentrated schedule guarantees suitability. Improvement and specific outcomes cannot be promised.

How intensives help with relationship patterns

The Clinical Process

Understand, practice, and integrate

  1. Clarify the concerns and identify goals for the intensive.
  2. Trace the recurring interaction cycle, including moments of escalation and withdrawal.
  3. Explore triggers, emotions, and the protective responses each partner brings.
  4. Slow the interaction down to make room for a closer understanding.
  5. Practise different responses and ways to communicate beneath the conflict.
  6. Integrate what you have worked on and identify next steps.

Exact pacing varies with clinical needs, safety, regulation, and what emerges during the work. The process may revisit a concern rather than move through a fixed schedule. Next steps are discussed individually, without promising ongoing or no-cost follow-up.

Clinical Fit

Safety comes before scheduling.

Clinical screening is necessary before treatment is scheduled. Active or recent interpersonal violence, coercive control, intimidation or threats, severe instability, untreated substance-use concerns that interfere with safe participation, and situations where either partner cannot speak freely are not appropriate for couples intensive work. A fit consultation does not guarantee acceptance.

Privacy and Discretion

Private to your couple, with professional boundaries.

The intensive is private to one couple and includes no groups or shared programming. Couples with demanding professional, leadership, community, or public-facing roles may place particular importance on discretion. Any clinically appropriate couple can explore the service, regardless of role or visibility. Standard legal and ethical limits to psychotherapy confidentiality apply.

Do not send protected health information or sensitive clinical details through standard email or scheduling notes. Discuss privacy questions during the fit consultation.

In-Person Planning

Confirm the clinical arrangement, then plan travel

  1. Begin with a fit consultation to discuss the concerns, physical locations, clinical suitability, and possible formats.
  2. For in-person work, discuss a West Virginia general location and the needs for an appropriate private setting.
  3. Confirm the treatment setting and dates. Agree on any therapist travel and location expenses before scheduling.
  4. Once confirmation is complete, arrange and pay for your own personal travel and lodging.

Couples should not make nonrefundable travel arrangements until the treatment location and dates have been confirmed.

Questions Before Beginning

Planning care in West Virginia

What needs to be confirmed before we book travel?

Clinical fit comes first. The general location, specific treatment setting, dates, and any therapist travel or location expenses must then be established. Do not make nonrefundable travel arrangements before the treatment location and dates are confirmed.

Can one partner join virtual treatment from another state?

Discuss both partners’ planned physical locations with Chad before scheduling. Applicable licensure and eligibility requirements must be satisfied for each client at the time of treatment, regardless of where you normally live.

Can we discuss privacy needs before choosing a format?

Yes. Privacy and discretion can be discussed in the fit consultation within normal psychotherapy confidentiality limits. Please keep protected health information and sensitive clinical details out of standard email and scheduling notes.
